I’m a big fan of keeping it simple. Nothing complicates faster than confusion. If that isn’t an already famous quote then it should be. Consider it a Tweetable. Be sure to give me credit. J
I like to keep things organized. I like neat. I like tidy.
I like my food easy to cook. I like my workout effective and focused.
I don’t do well with all the fluff of the weight loss industry. You won’t see me swallowing 56 supplements before 9 am hits. You won’t see me doing 2-hour workouts each day. You won’t see me carrying around a blender and a box of protein powder as my only source of fuel.
I’m not immune to the world we live in. I have a job. I have a family. I have errands to run and bills to pay. I have friends and family to keep in touch with. I have hobbies. I have stress too.
I guess I find that complicating my life just makes things harder.
You can probably relate. When I talk with people interested in becoming a client, they say similar things about weight loss.
It’s tough. It’s hard. It’s confusing. It’s annoying. And the big one: they’ve failed so many times before.
We’re built to avoid hard work. In fact, when we discovered/invented things like the wheel or a lever… well we stopped doing things the old way and started doing things the new way because it made sense and because it was easier.
We’re hard-wired to go with what is easier and takes less effort.
This is kind of a problem for me because my job is to get you to do something that feels hard. It’s a tough one, but once I show people that weight loss and feeling good can be made easier by doing things in a more simple way… they’re all ears.
It’s best described by comparing it to a cookbook. Have you ever bought a cookbook thinking it is the only one you’ll need from here on out? It’ll show you exactly what to make for a month, and it’s all healthy, and it’s all yummy, and it’s all in 1 book!
But then you go to make one of the recipes and you find out that 3 of the 7 ingredients that you need are actually other recipes?
By the time you’re done making 1 recipe you’ve actually made 4.
It’s frustrating, right?
It’s because the cookbook is making it harder than it needed to be. And hey, if there are people out there with time and interest to make this kind of food… great! But you probably aren’t one of them – neither am I J
The point I want to make is this: you can go to so many places and get weight loss advice. There’s the endless results of Google, there’s the big box gym where you’re just a number, there’s that weird pill that has 22 weird side effects…
But none of these places will make your life simpler and give you results. That’s what I do. I break things down so you feel good about doing it, feel accomplished right away, and actually, enjoy getting healthy.
